Tools for Quick and Easy Comments and Feedback in Google

Teaching students online has it's challenging, and none more time consuming and difficult than providing feedback on assignments by entering comments.  Here are a few tools or strategies that will help you save time:

  • Mote
    • An extension for Google Chrome which allows you to easily insert voice recordings into the comments feature of Google Classroom, Docs, Slides, Sheets, etc.
  • Window 10 Speech to Text Accessibility Features
    • Click on any text field, like comments in Google, and use the shortcut "Windows (❖)  + H" to initialize speech to text.
    • The first time you use it, you may have to enable voice recognition.

  • Loom
    • Create screen recording of you evaluating and providing feedback on an assignment.
    • Share the link privately with the student. 
    • Students can comment and react with emojis throughout the video, and it is play time stamped.
    • You know whether or not the video has been viewed.
