Online teaching has its challenges, none more so than trying to keep an eye on your students while you are sharing your screen on Zoom and teaching. Unfortunately, there is not a setting that can make this possible, but, there is a way!
1) Your new Windows 10 laptop.
2) Your USB-C to VGA adapter (provided with your laptop).
3) An extra computer monitor, power cord, and it's VGA cord (shown here).
Step 1: Setup your laptop to the left of your monitor.
Step 2: Plug in the monitor power cord and turn it on, and if needed, the laptop charger.
Step 3: Plug your USB-C to VGA adapter into your laptop.
Step 4: Plug your monitor VGA cord into the adapter.
Step 5: Choose your projection style by using the shortcut "F8," and choose Extend. You could also go into your Windows Display settings, and under Multiple displays, choose Extend these displays.
Step 6: You should now see two "Windows" desktops. This allows you to drag windows to the right onto the extended screen monitor.
Step 7: Open your Zoom meeting.
Step 8: Click the Share Screen option green button at the bottom of the Zoom toolbar, choose Screen 1, and click Share.
Step 9: Drag your video feed to the right onto your second screen. You could also open your Participants window and Chat window and drag them on the right onto your second screen.
Now, you are able to work within Screen 1 to teach what's on your screen, and keep an eye on your students videos, participant window, and chat window on your second screen.
Need a bigger second screen? Use your SmartBoard or Espon by connecting the USB-C to VGA adapter to the VGA cable that goes to your projector.
